About Northern Lights Recreation

Northern Lights Recreation has long been a cornerstone of family fun in Northern Michigan, proudly serving locals, second-home owners, and visitors from across the region. Known as the place where “Adults meet Family and Friends for Fun,” our center offers bowling, laser tag, arcade games, delicious food, live entertainment, and memories that last a lifetime.

In December 2024, the Lloyd family—Bill and Karlene, along with their sons Max and Trevor, daughter-in-law Chanel, and grandson Louie—became the new owners of Northern Lights Recreation. While not lifelong residents, the Lloyds have proudly owned a home in Harbor Springs since 1999 and are committed to preserving the welcoming spirit that founder Randy Crim, his wife Maria, and partners Steve and Marsey Shuman built, while introducing fresh energy and exciting new features.

Immediately after taking ownership, the Lloyds began a major renovation to enhance the Northern Lights experience. Completed in September 2025, the renovation introduced several brand-new attractions and spaces that are already redefining fun in the region:

• Louie’s Sports Bar & Grill, named after the family’s first grandson, celebrates family, community, and the joy of gathering together.
• Rocky’s Beer Garden, honoring Bill’s late father, an amateur boxer nicknamed “Rocky” with a legendary knack for finding a beer garden wherever he went.
• Krazy Darts, a high-energy twist on the classic pub game.
• Valo Arena, a cutting-edge mixed reality experience that immerses guests of all ages in interactive play.

The Lloyds are proud to continue working with the exceptional Northern Lights team, whose dedication has created the warm, welcoming environment guests have cherished for years.

With “New Owners, New Vibe,” Northern Lights Recreation is stepping into an exciting new era—remaining a beloved gathering place while offering innovative ways to connect, celebrate, and have fun for generations to come.
